At the 4th Regiment RAA, he commanded the 107th Battery (and was the Battery Commander for the 1 RAR Ready Battle Group), was the Regiment’s Operations Officer and served as the Regiment’s Second in Command. His previous corps postings were at 8th/12th Medium Regiment and 48th Field Battery. Lieutenant Colonel Calvert’s staff appointments were at the Directorate of Reserve Officer Career Management (SO1 Intelligence and Information Support and SO2 Career Management Group Central West Region), HQ 9th Brigade (Brigade Major and SO2 Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief), and HQ 1st Division (SO3 Operations). Lieutenant Colonel Calvert’s training appointments were at AUR as the Second in Command Officer Cadet Company and Regimental Training Officer. Lieutenant Colonel Calvert has combat experience with the 1st Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery (UK) in 2009-10 on Op HERRICK (Helmand and Kandahar Provinces, Afghanistan). In 2013-14 he returned to Afghanistan as a Staff Officer then Deputy Director of HQ ISAF’s Election Support Cell. Lieutenant Colonel Calvert has deployed domestically on Op QUEENSLAND FLOOD ASSIST 2010 and Op BUSHFIRE ASSIST 2020 as the J6 JTF 1111 whilst OC 144 Signals Squadron. A graduate of Australian Command and Staff College (Reserve), Lieutenant Colonel Calvert holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Geography from the University of Adelaide, and a Diploma of Leadership and Management. In his civilian career, Scott consults to the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) on the Long Range Fires Program. The confluence of his military and civilian roles has broadened Scott’s knowledge of military strategic partnerships; emerging technology in missiles; autonomous systems; electronic warfare; over the horizon targeting; command and control systems; and multi-domain strike. Scott is married to Megan (a commercial property officer at the City of Marion). They have two teenagers, Amelia (studying archaeology at Flinders University) and William (Year 12 at Sacred Heart College), and two Airedale Terriers. Scott loves cricket and is a mad keen golfer and member of the Glenelg Golf Club. New Regimental Sergeant Majors WARRANT OFFICER CLASS ONE MATTHEW GREEN School of Artillery Warrant Officer Class One Matthew Green was born in Taree, New South Wales. Warrant Officer Class One Matthew Green enlisted in the Australian Army in 2002 and was allocated to the Royal Australian Artillery. After Initial Employment Training, Warrant Officer Green was posted to the 4th Field Regiment, where he served in several sub units within the Regiment. Warrant Officer Green has also been employed as an instructor at several training establishments. Warrant Officer Green was promoted to Lance Bombardier in 2006. It was in 2006 that he deployed to Malaysia on Rifle Company Butterworth as a section second in command. After Rifle Company Butterworth he completed the basic parachute course then deployed with the 1st Battalion, the Royal Australian Regiment to East Timor on Operation ASTUTE. In 2007 Warrant Officer Green was posted on promotion to ‘A’ Field Battery as a gun detachment commander. During 2007 he was detached to instruct at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion as part of the Enhance Land Force program for five months. In 2008 Warrant Officer Green deployed with 29 Commando Regiment, Royal Artillery on Operation HERRICK as a gun detachment commander. After his return he was posted again to Townsville to the 4th Field Regiment in 2010. After a year tenure as a JNCO in the 4th Field Regiment Warrant Officer Green was promoted to Sergeant and fulfilled the appointment of the Command Post Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he deployed with the Artillery Training Team Kabul to the Afghanistan School of Artillery. During this deployment he mentored and trained Afghan National Army Offensive Support Observers and operated with many other coalition partners. He also had the responsibilities of the rotations S6.
