RAA Liaison Letter 2025/2026 Edition 26 The 2026 crew of the Land Combat Faculty – Joint Fires Cell currently continue to work tirelessly to ensure the RAA remains on track tackling ongoing challenges in maintaining and building trade structures and training to meet current and future needs in supporting the ever evolving and explosive growth of the RAA. The new team for 2026 are: • (SO2) Vacant • (RAA TD x 3) Vacant • (SO3) CAPT D Bell • (SO3) CAPT J Munday • (ECM OS) WO2 S O’Hara • (ECM STA) WO2 M Dutton • (ECM AMD) WO2 S Hansen • (ECM Deep Strike and PMF) WO2 T Charters 2026 brings with it some unique challenges where not only will the Cell be required to continue massaging, and in some cases re-work the new trade structures and pathways, but at the same time tackle a host of new Introduction Into Service, Trial and Sustainment Learning Management Packages that are all linked to our new capabilities, current and future. This is not a small task by any means but one that is being progressed at this very moment with the utmost of dedication. It is a privilege to be working with such a motivated group of people and the RAA as a whole and I have no doubt what so ever that they (we) will succeed in all areas and continue the good work in ensuring the Regiment is always well placed and trained to meet any and all future needs and tasks. I would like to thank those who have departed the Cell and the wider RAA community (posting and or separation) for all of your hard work and leaving the RAA in a very strong starting position for 2026. Without your dedication and stewardship we, the Regiment, would not have achieved the success and capability advancement that we have to date. In closing I would like to take this opportunity ask that we pause and reflect for a moment on the Gunners that have left our ranks for the big gun park in the sky (some too soon). They will always be remembered and will forever remain a part of our Gunner family. I would also like to publicly thank the outgoing HOR BRIG Damien Hill, AM, CSC, your tireless efforts over the past years have left the RAA in an amazing space and ready to tackle any and all tasks presented. In saying this I would also like to welcome the new HOR BRIG Andrew Langford, AM, we the Gunners look forward to serving with you. Last, but by no means least, I would like to pass on my heartfelt congratulations to all of the newly appointed Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors, Master Gunners, Battery Commanders and Battery Sergeant Majors. May 2026 be an outstanding year for us all and I look forward to catching up with everyone throughout the year. Ubique Biography Warrant Officer Class One Anthony Charles enlisted into the Australian Regular Army on the 27 June 1989 and was allocated to the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery. After Initial Employment Training he was posted to 4 Field Regiment as a gun number. In 1992 Warrant Officer Charles was posted to the 1st Field Regiment as a Detachment Commander and Operator Command Post Bombardier. At the completion of his time at 1 Field Regiment Warrant Officer Charles was posted back to 4 Field Regiment as a Sergeant Detachment Commander and Battery Command Post Sergeant. In 1999 he was deployed as a Platoon Sergeant to East Timor on Operation WARDEN as part of the International Force East Timor. 2001 saw Warrant Officer Charles posted as a Sergeant Instructor to the School of Artillery Puckapunyal. In 2002 Warrant Officer Charles was promoted to Warrant Officer Class Two and took up the position of Operations Warrant Officer of the School of Artillery. In 2004 Warrant Officer Charles was posted back to 4 Field Regiment as the Battery Guide and subsequent Battery Sergeant Major of 108 Field Battery. In 2006 Warrant Officer Charles was posted to the Royal Military College Duntroon as the Company Sergeant Major of Second Class and Small Group Instructor within First Class. 2014 saw him again posted to RMC as Company Sergeant Major First Class and Team 2IC Romani Company. In 2008 Warrant Officer Charles was posted to Army Headquarters Directorate of Workforce Management - Army. In March 2008 Warrant Officer Charles was deployed to Timor Leste as the Taskforce Company Sergeant Major on Operation Astute. He then deployed to Afghanistan as part of the SOTG on Operation Slipper in 2012/13 as a lead Advisor and Mentor within the Afghan Forces Development Unit. In 2017, Warrant Officer Charles was posted to 1 Regiment as the Battery Sergeant Major of Combat Services Support and 104 Battery. In 2018 Warrant Officer Charles deployed on Operation ATLAS as the Company Sergeant Major of two Commonwealth Games search company’s and then Operation OKRA
