RAA Liaison Letter – 2025 / 2026 Edition 64 This has seen NETT not only focused on the traditional requirements of digital, software and current in-service equipment updates but also the raising of training teams for both AS09/AS10 Huntsman, Self-Propelled Howitzer and HIMARS, land based long range fires within the SOArty. 26 Jul 24 Korean International Artillery Course - Korea, Australia, Poland and Egypt The raising of both training teams has witnessed its members attending and completing multiple courses to train and qualify on AS09/AS10 and HIMARS, allowing these personnel to gain the required qualifications to deliver and assess platform, driver and mounted range safety qualifications. Additionally, NETT has been central to the development of training material and associated doctrine. The teams have worked closely with Defence Industry to prepare for and deliver training to the RAA workforce. This has included the opportunity to participate in K9 training delivered in Korea and US-led training on HIMARS in Edinburgh, SA. Following the initial training In Korea (July 2024), the Huntsman team commenced a series of courses throughout 2025 at the School of Armour to gain existing platform qualifications which they will migrate across to the AS9 Huntsman. During 2025, the team also worked closely with Hanwha Defence Australia, gaining valuable knowledge and experience on the new platform through a series of test and evaluation and familiarisation activities. This culminated in the conduct of a series of courses run by Hanwha Defence Australia qualifying the training team on the AS09 and AS10 Huntsman. 05 Nov 25 - SOArty personnel live fire the AS09 Huntsman at Puckapunyal For the SOArty HIMARS team, their introduction and training on the new land based long range fires system commenced late in 2025 with the attendance on a series of US-delivered courses out of Edinburgh, SA. Additionally, NETT and SOArty assisted with the planning and range architecture behind the Ex Talisman Sabre long-range fires live fire exercises. The HIMARS team will now remain focused on the training and qualification of the instructional workforce that will deliver sustainment training out of the SOArty commencing in 2026. 25 Jul 25 HIMARS Live Fire at Mt Bundey Training Area
