KINGS BIRTHDAY DAY HONOURS 2026 OFFICER OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA IN THE MILITARY DIVISION (AO) Major General Richard Anthony VAGG DSC FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS THE LEAD MILITARY DIRECTOR GENERAL FOR THE DEFENCE STRATEGIC REVIEW AND AS HEAD LAND CAPABILITY. Major General Vagg demonstrated distinguished service as Head Land Capability and lead military Director General for the Defence Strategic Review. He delivered Army’s largest recapitalisation since the Second World War, introduced critical capabilities, championed innovation, and reformed command structures, significantly enhancing Army’s preparedness and transformation to meet future strategic challenges. MEDAL OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (OAM) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION Warrant Officer Class One Scott Russell Caswell FOR MERITORIOUS PERFORMANCE OF DUTY AS A MASTER GUNNER IN THE AUSTRALIAN ARMY. Warrant Officer Class One Caswell made a significant contribution to the Australian Army’s force projection and lethality through his exceptional dedication in both the Explosive Ordnance test and evaluation capabilities culminating in the completion of the Land 17 Phase 1C.2 project, as well as his leadership and stewardship at the Land Warfare Centre South Australian Wing. His superior skills, knowledge and dedication over a sustained period, across multiple disciplines is exemplary. The benefits of his tireless devotion and work will be realised by the Australian Army over many years. Warrant Officer Class One David Nutini FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO TRAINING AND CAPABILITY INTEGRATION AS THE REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR IN THE AUSTRALIAN ARMY OVER VARIOUS APPOINTMENTS. Warrant Officer Class One Nutini provided sustained meritorious service over a decade of continuous leadership across unique unit, formation and corps-level roles. His leadership to bridge technical and cultural needs, to advance aerial delivery, artillery, and combined arms capabilities was admirable. His generation of soldier-focused, welfare-informed training systems and his influential approach to integration made a direct impact on soldier skills, attitudes, and teamwork to progress capability. His commitment to each role is in the finest traditions of the Australian Army.
