RAA Liaison Letter – 2024 / 2025 Edition 59 4th Regiment RAA Lieutenant Colonel Simon Frewen he 4th Regiment has had a fantastic 2024, building on the strong base that COL Silverstone handed over. The Regiment in Direct Support of 3 Brigade successfully executed its heartbeat of exercises ensuring that training levels were met, teams built and that the Brigade was supported in every way we could. The balance of supporting the Brigade to ‘fight tonight ‘as the Regiment prepares for L8116 (AS9 and AS10) is an exciting time. Building works have commenced at Chau Pha lines to accommodate the increase in equipment and personnel. How the Regiment realises the potential of this new capability is front and centre of our thinking and training as we prepare for the largest cultural shift 4 Regiment has had since its inception in 1960. 4th Regiment’s 2024 Roadmap Exercise Shot Start – Impact Sector North – compressed due to a Cyclone but building into the first LFX for the year, testing our news communications architecture. 90% of all fire missions were fired without any use of voice over the radio, focused on reducing our signature. EX Deadlift – Dry fire and movement of Keypad dispersed operations ensuring our survivability. No guns closer than 1000m of any other Regimental piece of equipment. EX Chau Pha – Key Regimental activity firing advanced practices of Danger Close and modified safety from dispersed locations in preparation for BDE and international LFX. 9 Regt supported with UAS. T
