Most notably, Bombardier Sabin has developed exceptional relationships and trust within 8th/9th Royal Australian Regiment, including a highly successful deployment on Operation LILIA and two deployments on Operation BEECH, after being specifically requested by 8th/9th Royal Australian Regiment. This speaks to his high level of maturity, professionalism, intellect and leadership amongst his peers. During a high-tension period on his Operation LILIA deployment to the Solomon Islands, Bombardier Sabin was required to undertake higher duties and lead the Joint Fires Team. Throughout this time, he was responsible for coordinating and executing bespoke, small team Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance tasks which were completed to the highest standard. Bombardier Sabin has been crucial in his liaison with the Joint Terminal Attack Controller Troop and 1st Aviation Regiment in coordinating Close Air Support training across all Batteries of 1st Regiment, including support to 1st Aviation Regiment’s Regimental Officer Basic Course. His highly effective liaison, relationship building and organisational skills resulted in exceptional training outcomes for both units. Bombardier Sabin’s commitment to maintaining a high level of personal fitness is exceptional. He consistently performs to an excellent standard during physical training and maintains an encouraging and enthusiastic approach to mentoring his peers and subordinates. Bombardier Sabin represented both his Battery and the Regiment to the highest standard by winning the Run Army 10 Kilometre Challenge, whilst deployed on Operation LILIA. Bombardier Sabin has established himself as a legitimate role model to his peers and as an invaluable member of 104th Battery, 1st Regiment. His superior performance in all aspects of soldiering, gunnery, teamwork and leadership is in keeping within the finest traditions of the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery and the Australian Army.
