RAA Liaison Letter 2024 - 2025 Edition

RAA Liaison Letter 2024 / 2025 Edition 20 Regimental Master Gunner Warrant Officer Class One Anthony Charles “A SUPERIORITY of fire, and therefore a superiority in directing and delivering fire, will become the main factors upon which the efficiency of force will depend”. (Marshall of France Ferdinand Foch, Precepts and judgments, 1919) 2025 has started at a rapid pace and the RAA community are at full speed and eyebrows deep in a multitude of trade and capability growing pains but we couldn’t be happier with the current situation. The level and speed of growth being experienced by the RAA at this very moment was last seen and lived at the beginning of WW2. The introduction of world class capability and our growing presence within the theatre/strategic shaping sphere as an influential and impact player has come with a shopping list of challenges and changes that we all must tackle head on regardless of how uncomfortable some of the changes and paths needing to be travelled are. I have the privilege to be able to see and interact in all areas of change and capability introduction across the Regiment and I remain proud to be Gunner when I see how all members of the Regiment have approached and tackled the problem set at hand within their areas of influence and with a RAA mindset and focus. The end of 2024 saw several key players within the Land Combat Faculty – Joint Fires Cell move on leaving a large void that required some serious filling. Those being: • MAJ C Woodhall (SO2) • CAPT D Fleming (SO3) • WO2 (now WO1) M Broughton (ECM) • WO2 C Crout (TD) • WO2 D Mason (TD and ECM) • WO2 I Hodgkins (ECM) • SGT S Van Eck (TD) I would like to thank those who have departed the Cell for all of their hard work and leaving the RAA in a very strong starting position for 2025. Without your dedication and stewardship we, the Regiment, would not have seen the successful introduction of the new RAA Trade Model and structures, the ECN 254 ACSO bonus and the ECN 600 series pay raise for all ECN 254 ACSO’s to name but a few of the large muscle movements to date. The 2025 crew are currently working tirelessly to ensure the RAA remains on track tackling ongoing challenges in maintaining and building trade structures and training to meet current and future needs in supporting the ever evolving growth of the RAA. The new team for 2025 are: • MAJ E Stewart (SO2) • CAPT J Kale (SO3) • WO2 S O’Hara (ECM OS) • WO2 M Dutton (ECM STA) • WO2 S Hansen (ECM AMD) • WO2 T Charters (ECM Deep Strike and PMF) 2025 brings with it some unique challenges, not only will the Cell be required to continue massaging, and in some cases re-working the new trade structures and pathways, but at the same time tackle a host of new Introduction Into Service, Trial and Sustainment Learning Management Packages that are all linked to new capabilities. This is not a small task by any means but one that is being progressed at this very moment. It is a privilege to be working with such a motivated group of people and I have no doubt what so ever that they will succeed in all areas and continue the good work in ensuring the Regiment is always well placed and trained to meet any and all future needs and tasks. In closing I would like to congratulate all of the newly appointed Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors, Master Gunners, Battery Commanders and Battery Sergeant Majors. May 2025 be an outstanding year for you all and I look forward to catching up throughout the year.
