4th Field Regiment 'Old Boys' Association Newsletter
From Ron Hall Hi Peter, I bumped into David Bedford at the Canberra Royal Australian Artillery ANZAC Day march, just a handful of proud RAA guys turned up, David was our Adjutant during the 70/71 tour of South Vietnam, David is now in his 80’s but still doing reasonably well. I also got this message and photo from the Perth guys from 4 th Field Regiment in particular John Hume from 106 Battery who was also honoured by the Fremantle AFL team in the 25 th of April pregame ceremony firstly doing a lap of honour in the back of a utility, then joining the Freemantle AFL team in the on-ground ceremony. John has kept me up to date with Alf Hickenbottom who for the first time this year did not march in the Perth march. John said Alf is not in the best of health. John said that the guys in the photo are from far left rear Ron Bates, Ron Fritchley, Brian Cunningham, Ian Johnson, guy with cap on my right cannot remember but not from 106 battery, John Hume, Jeff Shields, last at the back again unknown, front John’s grandchildren, Corben, Cooper, Jackson and behind Shields, Thomas. Regards Ron Hall. I caught up with Gus Weir in Adelaide back in March. He and wife Judy and one of their sons, run a couple of surf shops in the Adelaide area. Gus went back to the banking world after his National Service stint with us in Vietnam.
