4th Field Regiment 'Old Boys' Association Newsletter
Lance Grimstone held a lonely Dawn Service vigil at Bearna Beach in Galway, Ireland. He was later joined by wife Ollie and some of the grandchildren. From Ben Lans Hi Peter, very impressed with new electronic newsletter. Keeps us old gunners up with the e-age. But I’ll still use your email to contribute to the next edition if you don’t mind, just cause it’s easier than finding my glasses to navigate the website. Readers of our newsletter will also see the rather prominent 108 Battery logo in the centre of the page. That logo alerts all and sundry that 108 is having a reunion in Sep this year in, of all places, Toowoomba! Why there? Who knows but it will be held in the Crows Nest Caravan Park, a well secluded place where a bunch of old (very old some of them) gunners of that mid sixties to mid eighties period can go and chat, drink, smoke (heaven forbid) pipes and cigars and just chill for a weekend. I’d appreciate you putting this heads up in the newsletter mate. Gives some of the blokes something to aim at. Take care and keep up the incredibly good work. Ben From Garry Jones . G'day mate, got your email, & wish to add our little bit. Whilst our lifestyle is fairly sedentary these days, that is our caravanning days are long done, we still get away to some of our albeit closer but favourite spots to a cabin with our pooch & enjoy just a few days away just a change in routine we all need here & there. I still love getting away to my friend’s property up at Walcha which I will do early June to cast a fly or lure at a trout, but I won't be walking too far so they better be on the bight. Still tying flys. So, to end I’ll share a photo of some of my efforts. Regards to you & all old boys. Kevin Murphy called the other day. He is set for a trip to hospital in late May for a knee replacement. Then it’s three weeks of rehab and then set a date for the other knee. Our best wishes to Murph for a speedy recovery. Garry O’Hara gave me a call recently. He is still involved in the winery business and has taken on the role of President of the Denman RSL Sub-branch. They had a successful Anzac Day Dawn Service and a main service. Great to hear his news.
