4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Sep 25 Newsletter

From Denis (Punta) Pfundt on 3 August . Hi Pete. All ok down here in the bottom end. Have had the usual minor health issues that goes with normal aging and can't speak highly enough of the DVA in their assistance along the way. Have, as a result shed 17 kg and now down to a pre Nasho weight of 81 kegs. Keeping very active with daily exercise, gym session and 3 to 5 klms on the beach when weather doesn't blow you off. Was actually swimming daily up to mid June. When I say swimming it's probably just edging backwards into the water, flopping, hoping the heart doesn't overreact and wallowing for 5 minutes. Needless to say you don't run into a lot of people on the beach here in June. Have had a couple of laps round the big island in a converted Toyota bus, after I gave up training my own racehorses and retiring. Always made my first call after getting off the boat to Renmark and have a week or so with Mark Hueppauff as it's such a great place to set off from if you're heading to Darwin, West, or northeast. The hospitality was amazing. Managed to catch up with Ron and Cheryl Fritchley in Broome and Darryl Cooper in Bunbury but missed out on Dave Drabble as he was off fishing up north. Met Ken Morrison on my way home and had a meal and a few cold ones. My daughters (3) have all relocated to the Sunshine Coast and have 2 grandsons up there. Also am closely associated with my partners 2 grandsons, so we have been kept on the go doing the usual pick ups, sporting events etc with them. Had a trip up to the Sunshine Coast in April and on the day I was due to fly out had a minor stroke which resolved itself on the way to hospital. As a result, couldn’t fly for 14 days so spent Anzac Day at the Munjimba service. If you run into any of the old boys, please remember me to them. Best regards with the newsletter.
